Tippeligaen – Lillestrom v Stromsgodset Preview (24/7/16)

LSK-SIF

Lillestrom preview

LSK have come out of the summer break looking absolutely awful. They've lost all three matches, and in some instances the scoreline doesn’t even do it justice how bad they were. I’m not sure exactly what is going wrong but the team just isn’t delivering the goods in all areas of the pitch. They haven’t been helped by the departure of key striker Fred Friday to AZ Alkmaar and the general feeling around the club seems really negative right now. Key goalkeeper Arnold Origi is still injured but the rest of the squad is in good condition. Of course, sooner or later LSK will come out of their slump. After all, there are a number of worse Tippeligaen sides than them on paper. But no team has played worse since the summer break, and that includes bottom club Start.

Stromsgodset preview

Thursday was a poor night for Norwegian clubs in Europe and Godset were another casualty. They led 2-0 against Danish side Sonderjyske but conceded a goal which forced extra time. Then, with nearly the last kick of the game they conceded another goal which knocked them out of Europe. It was a pretty gut wrenching way to go out of the competition and I’m sure everyone at the club will be really disappointed with what happened. Godset have endured a tough fixture schedule in the last couple of weeks and sooner or later some tiredness and fatigue could hit them hard. Midfielder Mohammed Abu is suspended for this contest but the rest of the squad is in fairly good condition, apart from being potentially tired.

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Under normal circumstances I would probably back Stromsgodset and over 3 goals in this match. LSK have been really awful in recent weeks and just seem like a sitting duck ready to be pounced upon. But this is surely a good time to face Godset and it's not as if the visitors are known for good away results. SIF are brilliant at home but can be flat and below par on their travels. Both sets of fans are really passionate and I think Lillestrom might actually be ‘up’ for this game more than usual. The goal line is set between 2.75 and 3 which is a little bit tempting. But Godset have been involved in two 1-0 wins the last two weeks and I’m not sure how much energy they’ll have left following Thursday night. This will hopefully be a good game to watch but I’m not sure which way it’ll go. Because LSK have been so bad I’ll still predict an away win, but in truth nothing would surprise me here.
