Tippeligaen – Haugesund v Tromso Preview (14/8/16)

FKH-TIL

Haugesund preview

I have to say the big surprise for me last week in Tippeligaen was how good Haugesund were. Despite missing a few players and generally looking out of knick recently, they produced a great display to beat Stabaek 1-0 away from home. What was especially impressive was how organised they were at the back and heard to break down. The players really put in a good shift and tried extremely hard. FKH have generally been very good at home this season, only losing one game which actually occurred against Sogndal last time out here. That was an unfortunate defeat though and they deserved at least a draw. Captain and key centre back William Troost Ekong is on Olympic duty with Nigeria but all of their suspensions have cleared up, and injuries are also at a minimum.

Tromso preview

The northern outfit continued their extreme inconsistency last week by losing 1-2 at home to Aalesund. Few people expected them to have problems in that fixture, but for some weird reason Tromso have been better on the road than at home this season. This is an extremely rare occurrence and is nearly always the other way around. Clearly the players enjoy away games at the moment so they can't be underestimated here. Tromso have been missing three important players to injury recently and all will be hoping to return soon. #1 goalkeeper Gudmund Kongshavn, centre back Simen Wangberg and striker Sofiene Moussa could all feature here depending on how quickly they’ve recovered.

Conclusion & betting analysis

These two teams met a few weeks ago and played out a highly entertaining 2-2 draw. Maybe something similar could happen again but I’m not overly sure about this fixture. Haugesund are good at home but Tromso have a knack of producing good away results this year. So I think backing Haugesund @ around the 1.90 mark would be pretty dangerous. I quite like the idea of backing overs, but I’ve been stung badly in Haugesund games recently so I’ll give that a miss as well. Tromso do have the potential of defending well if they put their mind towards it. Haugesund proved last week they are capable of exactly the same. So overall I’ll leave this match alone because I lack a strong feeling regarding the outcome.
