Shockingly, the northern outfit have the third worst home record in the league which will come as a huge surprise to most regular followers of this league. Alfheim Stadion is usually a fortress, but for some weird reason Tromso have been better away from home this season. It’s been a while since they've won in front of their own fans and they could desperately do with a victory today. TIL are situated dangerous above the relegation zone and with Stabaek & Aalesund facing each other today, at least one of them would make some ground up. So Tromso need to respond themselves, but aren't helped by the double suspension of two regular starters. At the back, Odegard is out, whilst defensive midfielder Landu Landu is banned. It seems like Tromso always have someone important injured or suspended and they can’t keep a settled side at the moment.
The Stavanger side don’t travel here in particularly great form. They’ve only won 1 of their last 6 games and playing pretty mediocre football. Off the field issues have plagued the club this year and they've been forced to sell players. Viking actually have the second best away record in the league, winning 6 of their 10 road contests. Their defence is usually quite tight and in road games they can be content to set themselves up hard to break down. Team news is favourable for them here with no suspensions and few injuries. It feels like their campaign is starting to fizzle out a bit but they can be an unpredictable side and have to be respected on their travels.
Conclusion & betting analysis
So, the third worst home team against the second best away side, an easy outcome to predict, right? Well, I wouldn't say it’s as simple as that. Historically, this is a difficult place to visit even though Tromso aren’t delivering in front of their own fans this season. The coach has talked about making some changes ahead of this game and I would imagine it’s more ‘get back to basics’ The Tromso defence has been pretty poor at home since the summer break, conceding two goals in each contest. This simply has to change and I’d expect them to try and revert back to the traditional Tromso style of strong defence. The main weakness of Viking is scoring goals and their attack force doesn’t strike much fear into anyone. So if Tromso are sensible and defend well they could definitely keep a clean sheet. I have a feeling this is going to be a tight game settled by one goal. I think this could be the day Tromso return to winning ways at home. But I’m not at all confident about this prediction so I’ll prefer just to watch this game. If you actually go with current form, an away win containing a higher number of goals would be the favourite outcome. But football doesn’t always go with current form.
