France Ligue 1 – Metz v Dijon Preview (21/10/17)

Match Preview

This is a battle between two teams inside the relegation zone who have just 2 wins between them all season! Neither side can be trusted, but both are better than their league position suggests. It's worth noting that the fixture list hasn't been kind to either too. I'm not sure here because you feel that one or the other is easily capable of cocking the game up. I think it will be an open match, maybe with a few goals and if the over 2.25 price was better, I'd maybe have a nibble. As it is, I'm happy to leave alone.

Prediction: 2-2

France Ligue 1 – Angers v Toulouse Preview (21/10/17)

Match Preview

Angers look a bit short to me here. I actually rate Toulouse as the better team so to see Angers close to odds-on surprises me. That said, there's not that much difference between either of these teams and no result should be a surprise. I see a draw here but nothing interests me from a betting point of view.

France Ligue 1 – Amiens v Bordeaux Preview (21/10/17)

Match Preview

Match played at a neutral venue (Le Havre). I think Bordeaux will win, but I think their price is very poor, even for allowing the fact that Amiens will have little in the way of advantage here. The visitors are the better team and will likely win. But Bordeaux on a -0.75 or -1 Asian Handicap doesn't appeal to me.

Norway Eliteserien – Aalesund v Kristiansund Preview (21/10/17)

Match Preview

This is an absolutely pivotal game which will affect the bottom of the table greatly. AFK haven't won since June and they're in a really bad run of results. I have no idea why the club hierarchy have decided to stay faithful with coach Trone Fredriksen. It's quite clear he is a weak link at this club, there is enough talent at their disposal for AFK to be in a comfortable mid table position. It's not as if they've had bad injuries either, the squad has largely been in fine condition so I personally think the big problem is a coaching issue. AFK are a real sinking ship right now, however this is an instance where there might be extra motivated. They are facing a direct relegation rival and if the players can't get themselves up for this one, then when can they?

KBK had a great run of results but surprisingly lost against Viking last week. I don't know whether they were nervous or what and that they succumbed to the pressure of expectation, but something wasn't quite right with their performance. I always did say that they have over achieved all season really because on paper they probably have the worst squad in the entire league. Perhaps they will enjoy being an underdog again here and all the pressure is on their opponents. They do need to improve upon last week's display though.

I always have a theory that when two poor teams play each other, especially if one or both are in a bit of a desperate situation then we often get an open game full of goals. There is a chance that this could be a really crazy game and that is why I am willing to back over 2.75 goals. The danger is of course if both teams are afraid of losing but AFK are in desperate need of a win and I have to believewill throw the kitchen sink at KBK here. As soon as one goal is scored this match could really kick off. No result would surprise me but my instinct is that there will be at least three goals, so the overs is my call.

Prediction: 2-2

France Ligue 1 – Monaco v Caen Preview (21/10/17)

Match Preview

Monaco aren’t the same team this year, that much is clear. They are still the second best team in France but something is missing for sure. They are struggling in some games they had no problems in last season. The Champions League results are also very concerning, further proof that this isn’t the same sort of team. It wasn’t so long ago that they were easily beating the likes of Strasbourg and Lille. This fixture against Caen is perhaps similar, but today's opponents can dig in and defend well. Caen do have limitations that will probably be their downfall today. Monaco might cover a -1.5 handicap, but on the back of a Champions League match I can’t be fully sure about them. This might be a lower scoring sort of grinder and Monaco forced to work hard for victory.

France Ligue 2 – Tours v Sochaux Preview (20/10/17)

Match Preview

The problem here is that there is a lot of uncertainty. Tours recently sacked their coaching duo Gilbert Zoonykynd and Nourredine El Ouardani. Tours of the sort of club who have made a lot of different coaching changes in the last few years. The president often gets it right and the players react when a sacking occurs. So there is every chance that Tours could produce a much better performance tonight. Sochaux returned to winning ways last week against Paris FC. It wasn't particularly convincing though but the defensive display was much improved. If this match had been played two or three weeks ago then I would back the overs. However, there is too much uncertainty here to get involved and I actually think this is a really difficult match to predict under the circumstances.

France Ligue 2 – Orleans v Lorient Preview (20/10/17)

Match Preview

This is a tricky one because I'm just not sure about the form of Lorient. On paper they have the best team in this division and they started the season very strong. But recent form has been worrying, they look a little bit disjointed and desperate going forward, especially against teams who are decent defensively. Recent 0-0 draws at home to Niort and Nancy are a concern, but I have to believe at some stage Lorient will bounce back. It could easily be tonight and I am going to predict they win. However, the price is nothing special and Orleans can be a weird team where anything is possible. My personal feeling is that this will be an open sort of game and maybe there is some value on the overs. But the lack of Lorient goals of late puts me off this so I will leave this game alone.

France Ligue 2 – Auxerre v Quevilly -Rouen Preview (20/10/17)

Match Preview

Right now I just see Auxerre as much the better team. They enjoyed a return to form recently after a difficult spell when things didn't go their way. Every team has a dodgy period at some point during the season and it looks like Auxerre are over it now. The visitors are struggling to adapt to life in this division. It's obvious they are a very limited outfit and their defence especially looks very weak on paper. In attack they have a sprinkling of talent such as Matthieu Duhamel, but they often find ways to lose and at the moment look like relegation fodder to me. AJA should get the business done here and I actually think they should be on a -1 Asian handicap and taking them -0.75 offers some value.

Prediction: 2-0

France Ligue 2 – Nancy v Clermont Preview (20/10/17)

Match Preview

I think this is quite a difficult match to predict. I am not entirely sure what to make of Nancy at the moment they seem to blow a little bit hot and cold. They certainly aren't the finished article and feel like a development in progress. I actually think Clermont have quite a good side and under rated to a certain degree. They could be dangerous here and I feel the visitors need to be respected. The price on Nancy is quite generous and if I fancied them to win they would be quite a good bet. But I actually think it's going to be Clermont who avoid defeat so I will refrain from betting on this fixture.

France Ligue 2 – Paris FC v Valenciennes Preview (20/10/17)

Match Preview

Paris FC has been going well this season and even in defeat last week they played okay. I am still not convinced this team is legitimate but I can't be sure if they are a poor outfit either. I think they will badly miss their top playmaker and best player Lalaina Nomenjanahary tonight who is injured. Valenciennes are a weird team at the moment and in the middle of the manager transition period. They managed to beat Tours last week but it wasn't the most convincing of displays against the rock bottom team. I'm not sure which way this will go. Maybe a draw is the most likely outcome. Paris FC look a little bit short in the betting, maybe they are being over rated already. I can't trust the visitors though, so I will leave this one alone.
