France Ligue 1 – Angers v PSG Preview (4/11/17)

Match Preview

I said a couple of weeks ago that Dijon looked good value on a +2 handicap to cover against PSG and I’ll say the exact same thing here about Angers. The hosts are a solid team, hard to beat and generally keep matches quite close against anyone. This season they went toe to toe with Lyon and have picked up many more respectable results. Obviously, now the challenge facing them is tougher but PSG are missing a couple of key players here which could make a difference. Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos, along with Thiago Motta all won't feature which is a blow for them.

Of course, PSG have managed fine before without key players, and even last week easily beat Nice 3-0 without Neymar. On the road things can be different though and the memory of Montpellier frustrating them (2-2) and the fortunate 2-1 success vs Dijon spring to mind. I think PSG will win, but not easily and if I had some bollocks I’d back Angers +2 on the Asian lines. However, I don’t want to risk anything and all it would take is a strong 10-20 mins from PSG and they could win by two or more without much sweat. I don’t think they’ll be at their best here though so for those presuming an easy win, maybe think again.

France Ligue 2 – Nancy v Lens Preview (4/11/17)

Match Preview

This looks a tricky game to call. Both teams have underachieved so far this season and come end the of the campaign should be knocking on the door of the top ten. Lens have come back to some sort of form recently at least, but it’s been a struggling year and the confidence of both teams can be quite fragile. Something like a draw is probably the most likely outcome, although if I had to stick my neck out then I would side with Lens. They have looked better of late and the Nancy defence has been worryingly porous. There is nothing here from a betting point of view that interests me.

France Ligue 2 – Valenciennes v Brest Preview (3/11/17)

Match Preview

This looks like a tough one. Both teams have gone off the rails a bit recently, conceding a few goals in the process. I’m really not sure here and no result would surprise me. Something like a 1-1 draw is as good of a guess than anything. I was slightly tempted by under 2.5 goals because the price looks generous. But the way both teams have defended recently concerns me. I’ll leave this one alone, but my instinct is that both teams will go into their shell a bit, leading to a lower scoring type of fixture.

France Ligue 2 – Orleans v Sochaux Preview (3/11/17)

Match Preview

Sochaux have won three in a row, returning to form, and fundamentally the main reason for this is because they've defended much better and kept eleven men on the field! However, I’m concerned for them tonight because key man at the back Adolphe Teikeu is suspended. He is an absolute rock, one of the best defenders in the league and they always look so much better with him in the team. Orleans are an interesting side who can blow hot or cold, but they probably should've won both of their last two home matches, blowing leads against Valenciennes and Lorient respectively. But in terms of performance I was fairly impressed. I think they are a good price tonight and I sense Sochaux could be below par, so a DNB handicap on the hosts looks like a decent bet.

Prediction: 2-1

France Ligue 2 – Niort v Clermont Preview (3/11/17)

Match Preview

This match feels very ‘drawish’ to me. Both teams are going along alright and actually I think Clermont are an underrated team well worthy of their current seventh position. Their coach Pascal Gastien makes a return to one of his old sides here so he won't want to get beaten. I think it’ll be a decent contest with a few chances and not much will separate the two teams come the final whistle. A score draw 1-1 or 2-2 feels like the right sort of possible result here, but in terms of betting I think it’s a tricky one. Nothing really stands out to me as a great bet, so I’ll leave this one alone.

France Ligue 2 – Nimes v Quevilly-Rouen Preview (3/11/17)

Match Preview

Nimes shouldn't really have too many problems here against a Quevilly-Rouen side that looks out of it’s depth right now. The newly promoted side have lost a whopping 10/13 matches and on average concede nearly 2 goals per game. That doesn't bode well against a Nimes outfit which is the highest scoring team in the division. I actually fancy the overs here more, but the goal line is an appalling 3.0 which shouldn't be seen anywhere in a Ligue 2 match ever! Even though I think it’ll cover, it would be stupid to bet on such a line in this division. I fancy the visitors might score because Nimes don't keep that many clean sheets. But due to the sheer strength of the hosts’ attack and the terrible Quevilly defence, I think Les Crocos should end up winning fairly comfortably. Taking them -1.25 looks safe enough because I just don't see how Quevilly can possibly keep it tight at the back, they are incapable.

Prediction: 3-1

Recommended bet 1 unit: Nimes -1.25 @2.04

France Ligue 2 – Paris FC v Lorient Preview (3/11/17)

Match Preview

I’ve sort of gone off Lorient a bit recently. Les Merlus have looked quite ordinary, or even poor for a while now. They’ve won their last two games, but one was an unconvincing success at Orleans, whilst they needed Tours to go down to 10 men before taking control last weekend (2-0). Lorient have the best squad in the entire league and one moment of class could prove the difference here. It would be unwise to bet against them, but I do think Paris FC are statistical value here on a DNB or +0.25 handicap. They have the best home record in the league (5-1-1) and have beaten sides like Auxerre, Nimes and Valenciennes here which is a decent effort. I simply don’t dare bet against Lorient though because at any moment they could go on a great run, if they wake up properly and demonstrate their true class.

Prediction: 0-1

France Ligue 2 – Auxerre v GFC Ajaccio Preview (3/11/17)

Match Preview

I’m not expecting this to be a classic by any means. GFCA are a poor away side, in fact I don't think they are a particularly good side overall anyway. If Auxerre were at full strength, I’d totally back them here, but without three regular starters Yattara, Adeoti and Obraniak, I’m not as sure. The loss of key striker Yattara is especially worrying because he’s been so vital for them since he arrived at the club. In the last two weeks, Auxerre have struggled against poor opposition Quevilly and Bourg-en-Bresse. GFCA are a boring side who will just defend here. I’m not expecting many chances and any sort of under bet would probably be worth a go. GFCA have scored just one away goal this term, whilst Yattara accounts for more than a third of Auxerre’s total goals so far. I don't often take this line but under 2 definitely seems a sensible option.

Prediction: 0-0

Recommended bet 1 unit: Under 2 goals @2.06
