MLS – Columbus Crew v Vancouver Whitecaps Preview (31/3/18)

Match Preview

Both teams have started the season reasonably well and this is an interesting matchup between two teams who like to counter attack. I think it all depends how much space is left in behind each defence because neither side is that great when having to create chances via the possession route. Columbus are better at doing it, and I have to give them the edge here, but Vancouver will sit very deep at times and make themselves hard to break down. I could see the Crew becoming frustrated, then at some stage being caught cold at the back themselves by a lethal Whitecaps break. Perhaps an individual moment of brilliance from someone like Higuain will be needed at some stage. This match could go either way depending on the match situation but the Caps might be stubborn enough to get something. It’s worth noting that strong winds are forecast which could affect the game in some sort of fashion. I’m happy to leave this one alone. The 1X2 and handicap odds look about right. There’s maybe some value on the under, but it’s too dangerous because this fixture could equally potentially explode.

Prediction: 1-1
