Norway Eliteserien – Bodo/Glimt v Rosenborg Preview (16/4/18)

Match Preview

Bodo won on the opening day against LSK 3-1, but since then they've suffered three straight defeats. The reality of playing back in the Eliteserien is perhaps starting to hit them and it’s clear this could be a struggling campaign for the northern outfit. For me, the biggest concern with Bodo is how vulnerable they look at the back. They regularly seem to concede big chances in games and even against someone like Odd they looked vulnerable. Just to add to their woes, Glimt have defensive injuries to a number of first team players. Even some of those who take the field tonight won’t be at full fitness, which could spell disaster against someone like Rosenborg.

For the visitors, their season finally kicked into life last weekend when they hammered Molde 4-0. It was the sort of performance that really silenced their critics and clearly showed that when at their best, nobody can stop them in this league. However, Rosenborg have been sloppy at times this season, dropping unexpected points. But it’s still really early in the campaign and these things can happen. RBK have no new injuries to report and are unlikely to make too many changes here. They are seven points off the top of the table and know they need to win in order to maintain their push up the table.

I just see RBK having way too much this evening. They don’t have a great record here at Aspmyra but looking at things logically they should claim a comfortable three points. Bodo have been struggling of late and don’t appear to have the defensive ability to contain any sides, let alone someone like RBK. Even if they defend deep and try to park the bus, the visitors will eventually find a way through. It might be that the best way for Glimt is to fight fire with fire and have a go themselves. Therefore, I like over 2.75 goals as my first pick. It would help if key Glimt striker Kristian Opseth is passed fit. But realistically RBK are quite capable of covering this line themselves if they are in the mood, so backing them -0.75 is my other selection.

Prediction: 1-4

Recommended bet 1 unit: Over 2.75 goals @2.02

Recommended bet 1 unit: Rosenborg -0.75 @2.0
