Norway Eliteserien – Brann v Stabaek Preview (21/4/18)

Match Preview

Brann have started the season well and are the only remaining unbeaten side in the Eliteserien. They've already gone to difficult places like Stromsgodset and Sarpsborg and picked up favourable results, which is very encouraging. Perhaps even more of a positive has been the level of their performances. Brann have legitimately outplayed every team they've faced this season, conceding just twice and one of those was a freak own goal. One problem for them ahead of this game is the fitness of key midfielder Fredrik Haugen. He’s arguably their most important player and will be badly missed if he can’t feature.

Stabaek are the only side in this league without a win, although they have drawn 3 out of 4 games. Toni Ordinas’ men have been hard to assess for quite some time and already this season I can’t quite make my mind up about them. The problem is a high level of inconsistency. When their top players have a good day, they are more than a match for anyone, but you never know with this lot. There’s enough talent here to cause Brann some problems, although I would expect the home team to win. I don’t think there’s enough value on Brann to warrant a bet though. If Haugen doesn’t play then they will miss his presence in the middle of the park and maybe labour to a tight win or not win at all.

Prediction: 2-0

Recommended bet: None
