France Ligue 2 – Chambly v Chateauroux Preview (23/8/19)

Match Preview

Chambly have yet to concede a goal this season. They started with a couple of 1-0 wins and followed it up with consecutive 0-0 draws. They are an incredibly boring team to watch and line up in what is effectively a 5-2-2-1 formation with five defenders and two defensive midfielders. Their aim is not to entertain and instead a preference is to be solid, compact and hard to break down. They are a club with limited resources so I get why they are doing this. Chateauroux travel here with just one point on the board and have yet to score a single goal in the league. They look very poor right now and head coach Nicolas Usai has a big job on his hands this season. Despite their poor play this season there is no way on this earth Chambly should be an odds-on favourite here. A fairer handicap would be -0.25 but instead we see the hosts as short as 1.83 in places! Chambly don’t even play at their own ground and are at a neutral stadium here in Beauvais for most of the season. So far they have managed alright but eventually it’s a factor which should have a negative effect, so factor that into prices. I think this will be a torrid and low scoring encounter hardly worth watching. 0-0 is a huge contender and the pick that stands out to me is under 2 goals. I don’t generally like betting unders but I can’t for the life of me see how this match contains more than a couple of goals. A fairer goal line would be Under 1.75 or even 1.5! It just screams out to me as an obvious pick between two very low scoring teams.

Prediction: 0-0

Recommended bet: Under 2 goals @1.99
