Norway Eliteserien – Mjøndalen v Vålerenga Preview (1/12/19)

Match Preview

Mjondalen HAVE to win otherwise they are definitely relegated. A victory would almost certainly secure at least a relegation playoff match so their destiny is well within their own hands. The bookmakers have them priced up as 1.75 favourites so we know we are in end of season territory. MIF have only won 1 of their last 11 games but that did come last time out at this stadium in a crunch clash with Ranheim (3-1). The good news for Mjondalen is that they are facing a team who have absolutely nothing to play for. Valerenga will finish 10th whatever the result and it will end what has been a very miserable campaign for Ronny Deila’s men. He tried a few different players last week vs Molde and I expect something similar again. Mjondalen have the weight of expectation on their shoulders and all of the pressure and they are not guaranteed to win. But on this occasion I think they can get the job done and find a way to get the 3 points. I wouldn’t trust them at this sort of price and the overs would be something I look at instead. But at the same time 1-0 or 2-0 wouldn’t be unsurprising. I’ll leave this one alone.

Prediction: 3-1
