Aalesund had an absolute nightmare at the weekend when they got battered 7-2 by Kristiansund. That followed on from an opening day loss vs Molde 1-4. This might sound weird but I actually think AFK haven’t been as bad as their scorelines might suggest. In fact, I would say that in the first half of both encounters they’ve been more than competitive. The issue seems to be in the second half where the defence just falls off the rails. It doesn't help that they are currently lacking ‘bite’ in midfield with Jordon Mutch and Fredrik Carlsen both ruled out injured. AFK are probably going to have to rely on their attack to get them anything out of this game. You would think that Lars Bohinen has worked on a few things defensively, but quite how much can be solved in the space of four days I’m not sure.
Brann have a 100% record and both of their matches so far have endured a similar pattern. It seems like they are content to take things easy in the first half and just stay in the game in what have been two very boring 0-0s. However, after the break they seem to put their foot on the accelerator and spark into life. Maybe something similar will happen again here. The Brann XI is very hard to predict because they have a fairly large squad and surely some sort of rotation will happen here. The prices look about right to be honest. Brann are favourites and tend to play well on the road but I am not writing off Aalesund just yet. I looked at backing over 2.5 goals but Brann can be quite solid and part of me feels Aalesund have to be thinking more defensive after Sunday’s aberration. No bet but an away win something like 1-2 feels about right.
