Kristiansund have to be pleased with their start to the season. They drew 0-0 away against Rosenborg and produced a great tactical gameplan to stifle their illustrious opponents. I said pre season that I had some concerns that Kristiansund would regress this season but once again I underestimated them and their manager Christian Michelsen. In the second half against RBK they were actually the better team and looked more likely to win the game. Michelsen is a master tactician and produces some great gameplans. KBK weren’t even breaking sweat towards the end of the game and were under little pressure. They appeared like the fitter side. The one big injury problem they have is goalkeeper Sean McDermott who is likely out until September. They recently signed Holmen Johansen on loan from Brann. I don’t particularly rate him much myself and I personally hope they stick with M’Baye in goal. He is eccentric at times but didn’t do too badly in the RBK match.
Aaelsund travel here bottom of the table after losing 1-4 to Molde but actually they impressed at times in that game. AFK demonstrated in the first half that they will be highly competitive in the Eliteserien and they possess some great technical players like Niklas Castro and Simen Nordli. Historically Kristiansund have a strong home advantage but their fans are often right on top of the players so they could lose an edge on that today. I actually think this sort of match might suit them and they can spring a surprise. It’s a local derby so both teams will be giving it everything and I sense an open match. I suspect over 2.5 goals would be a good bet but that would only be going on gut feeling and instinct. Kristiansund can be hard to predict and if they defend as well as they did on Wednesday then it will be difficult for Aalesund to break them down. Both teams should have a proper go here though and something like a 2-2 draw wouldn’t surprise me.
