Norway Eliteserien – Sandefjord v Haugesund Preview (28/6/20)

Match Preview

Sandefjord lost 0-2 away at Stabaek in midweek and to be honest they were pretty much outplayed and outclassed. It didn’t help their cause that midfielder Emil Palsson was sent off around the hour mark so they had to play the last 20 mins with 10 men. This is currently a really hectic schedule in the Eliteserien with matches every 3 or 4 days and it can be a massive struggle for teams like Sandefjord who have a small squad. I kind of fear for them here today if they play like they did in midweek. So far at least Marti Cifuentes’ men have four points on the board though and have had some positive moments during the season.

Haugesund had a nightmare start to the season and the big low was getting hammered 6-1 by Glimt last week. They finally showed something in the second half vs KBK on wednesday, coming back to draw 2-2. I still think they are lacking something in attack and they are desperate for Ibrahima Wadji to return, something that doesn’t happen until mid July. This is one of the hardest matches of the day to predict and nothing would surprise me too much. But I’m going to side with the extra quality and class plus the experience of Haugesund. Their squad depth is that bit more and it could make the difference. A low scoring 0-1 or 0-2 is what I think might happen but nothing interests me betting wise.

Prediction: 0-1
