Norway Eliteserien – Start v Odd Preview (27/6/20)

Match Preview

Start have been highly competitive in all of their 3 games so far. It looked like they were set for a trio of 2-2 draws but their heart was broken by a last gasp Molde goal on Wednesday. Joey Hardasson’s side have to be credited upon their performances since returning to the Eliteserien though. They’ve generally had a proper go, been positive and shown they have quality as well, especially in the final third. We must remember they’ve done this without key target man striker Martin Ramsland who continues to be injured. I’d expect Markovic to come back into the side as a #10 today. Left winger Kevin Kabran could be due some rest but has been performing really well.

Odd finally got on the board by beating Vålerenga 4-1 on Wednesday. Key man Torgeir Børven returned to form and that was the key. They were also helped out by some questionable goalkeeping and I feel that on another day things might have not gone their way so much. Børven is the real enigma at the moment. He leaves the club to Rosenborg on August 1st and hadn’t looked in the mood much so far, but suddenly roared back with a hat trick. Maybe he just tried harder because of the higher profile VIF fixture?

The pick I like here is over 2.75 goals. If Start were going to park the bus against anyone it would’ve been vs Molde. But they didn’t and so I’m led to believe they will continue to be attack minded. Odd should have goals in them, especially if Torgeir Børven keeps hot. He should especially be strong in the air here and it’s an area the Start defence has looked vulnerable. With right winger Elba Rashani likely back in the XI, the visitors should also be able to create a number of chances.

Prediction: 2-2

Recommended bet: Over 2.75 goals @1.98
