Norway Eliteserien – Aalesund v Stabaek Preview (19/7/20)

Match Preview

Aalesund remain winless and they are in huge trouble at the moment right at the foot of the table. Their defensive problems have been well documented but now their attack also looks like it is lacking confidence. The 0-1 away loss at Sandefjord has to be classed as a major disappointment. AFK would have felt they could win that game of football but were totally toothless and offered very little going forward. From a defensive point of view things looked more solid, but it was facing a limited attack and things could hardly get worse in that department. Aalesund have had a number of injuries all season which haven’t helped them, especially in midfield.

Basically, what they need is a victory to lift morale, ease the pressure and basically just give them some sort of boost. There’s a chance it comes today against an inconsistent Stabaek side. You never really know which version of Stabaek will show up but right now their squad seems a little injury ravaged and tired. They do however have a number of fast youngsters who could wreak havoc on Aalesund. If I had to pick a side to win then it would definitely be Stabaek but I am quite happy to leave this game alone. Over 2.75 goals would be an interesting pick but you have to think Aalasund will be desperate to try anything today and keeping it tight might be a possible aim.

Prediction: 1-2
