The pattern for Brann in the last 5 games has been LWLWL and I expect that to continue with another win today. I don’t think we can really hold it against them losing to Rosenborg late or even the 0-54 hammering away at Glimt. They showed good bounceback from that result last Sunday when they comfortably beat Sandefjord 3-1. It surprised me in midweek when Brann couldn’t get something at Odd but it was a weird sort of match in which 1-0 Odd didn’t really paint the full picture. Brann seem inconsistent at the moment but the signs are they are having few problems dealing with the poorer sides in the division, of which Start fall into that category. There are some doubts in defence with Kolskogen, Acosta and Barmen are rated doubtful with injury but this is an area where Brann have a lot of depth.
The visitors Start are winless but did manage to surprise me by picking up a 0-0 draw vs Rosenborg on Thursday. Maybe that result will have given them some extra confidence and belief but with this being the 3rd game in the space of 7 days I suspect it will be a physical struggle. Start aren’t a very good side and although they’ve perhaps have deserved more than their points tally it’s obvious that 2020 is going to be a struggling campaign. Brann dominated a similar side Sandefjord last Sunday and won 3-1. They should have scored about 5 or 6 goals as well and it makes me think they can see off Start quite comfortably today. With a -0.75 handicap on offer then I’m very happy to strike. Something like 3-0 or 3-1 is my prediction but I would lean towards a Brann clean sheet because Start have only scored in 4 of their last 5 games.
Recommended bet: Brann -0.75 Asian Handicap @1.85
