Haugesund didn’t start the season very well but have steadied the ship with some better results in recent times. Three consecutive clean sheets is a considerable feat for anyone in this league although it must be said they haven’t exactly faced fantastic opponents recently. Tight 1-0 wins vs newly promoted Start and Sandefjord were followed up by a 0-0 vs the now toothless Odd. However, they have done what they needed to do and on paper the strength of this FKH side is in defence. They will be boosted by the return of key striker Ibrahima Wadji from his year long doping suspension next weekend but until they get a reliable presence upfront lack of goals could be a hindrance.
Molde are unbeaten and have won 5 out of 6 games but are under pressure from Bodø/Glimt at the top of the table. To be honest, Molde have not always been very convincing this season. They needed a 95th miniature winner vs newly promoted Start and then only just held on at home to Mjøndalen last time out (2-1). A late missed MIF penalty let them off the hook big time. Molde have a big squad and it’s a good job because they have a number of fragile players who are often injured or carrying knocks. The defence has been hit hard this season and you can see that is a vulnerable area.
I think Molde will win this game but it won't be easy. Haugesund have had a full week to prepare and do have the potential to defend well. They could also cause Molde some problems from set pieces, it is an area the visitors have looked vulnerable already this season. Taking Molde still looks good to me though around the 1.95 mark. They have a great record at this stadium and have the extra quality to get a victory when needed. Champions find a way to win and I’ll back them to get the job done.
