Norway Eliteserien – Kristiansund v Vålerenga Preview (19/7/20)

Match Preview

After an unbeaten 6 game start it looks like Kristiansund have hit the rails slightly. They’ve lost consecutive games late on 1-2 vs both Stabaek and Glimt. I’m sure KBK will feel that they deserved more out of both contests and they should be praised with how they approached the Glimt game especially. From a tactical point of view Christian Michelsen as per usual has been spot on but poor execution and a couple of really good goals have denied them in the last week or so. I am not downhearted about Kristiansund but I could see them losing momentum a bit after those results. Key striker Flamur Kastrati missed the Glimt game through injury and is doubtful here.

Vålerenga have done the opposite to Kristiansund by basically stealing wins in their last two matches. They fluked a 1-0 at MIF last weekend and then struck late to beat Haugesund in midweek. New coach Dag Eilev Fagermo has installed more discipline, belief and organisation into the side. Basically they are a much tougher nut to crack than the last few seasons. You somehow feel that if Ronny Deila was still in charge there’s no way they’d have picked up those wins. Perhaps some cracks are being papered over though and let’s not forget VIF haven’t been very convincing recently. I find this match hard to predict and it could go either way. Maybe a draw? I’m just not sure.
