Norway Eliteserien – Mjøndalen v Vålerenga Preview (12/7/20)

Match Preview

Mjøndalen can count themselves highly unfortunate to lose away at Molde last week. They came from 0-2 down to nearly earn a point but a late Christian Gauseth missed penalty cost them. MIF have been highly competitive in all matches so far and are well managed by Vegard Hansen. Mjøndalen are an extremely physical side who can be deadly from set pieces. They are very awkward to face and must frustrate loads of opposition. There are some slight injury doubts ahead of the game, Nakkim in central defence might not suit up against his former club whilst midfielders Gauseth and Aasmundsen are doubtful as well.

Vålerenga have been up and down. You sense that Dag Eilev Fagermo is trying to imprint his style on this team but there are still teething problems. Some individual mistakes and errors have cost them at times along with flat periods. They seem quite hard to predict at times and I personally wouldn’t be backing them as a slight favourite here. This is going to be a physical contest in which a draw looks very possible. I would say 0-0 but Sam Adekube is suspended for the visitors and with some doubts over the fitness of certain MIF players then perhaps 1-1 is more realistic.

Prediction: 1-1
