Norway Eliteserien – Molde v Viking Preview (15/7/20)

Match Preview

Molde have won 6 out of 7 games but know they must keep winning in order to stay with Bodø/Glimt. It’s still relatively early days but already it’s clear only two sides can really win the league this season. They meet quite soon and MFK must use this as an opportunity to keep the pressure on their rivals. Molde have an incredibly good home record at the Aker Stadion in recent years, still defending 100% here thus far. They were lucky last time out here facing MIF with a late penalty saved by Andreas Linde ensuring they won 2-1. Molde however, looked very comfortable at the weekend beating Haugesund 3-0 away from home. They have a big squad which the manager won't hesitate to rotate and this sort of freshness is key.

Viking have not enjoyed a good start to the campaign. To be fair, they appear to be slightly getting better each week but results continue to be poor. They lost at home to Odd in the last minute on Sunday, which was an unfortunate loss because they made most of the play in the second half. Viking have had a squad plagued by injuries and there’s no consistency in their lineup. I think they will come here and have a ‘proper go’ and won’t die wondering. This should be an open game of football which I expect Molde to win. The home team should cover a -1.25 or -1.5 Asian Handicap but I think a better bet is over 3.25 goals. Molde have a ton of attacking talent but can be ‘got at’ defensively and I can see Viking scoring. Something like 3-1 or 4-1 is my prediction.

Prediction: 3-1

Recommended bet: Over 3.25 goals @1.88
