Rosenborg were extremely disappointing away against Start on Thursday night as they struggled to break down the newly promoted side, held to a 0-0 draw. This surprised me because RBK beat both Stabaek and Godset 3-0 back to back recently and I thoroughly expected them to kick on. For this match Marius Lundemo has now departed the club which leaves a hole in midfield until Kondradsen and Skjelbred return to fitness. There’s a doubt at left back where Anders Trondsen might not be fit. This could mean more minutes for youngster Edvard Tagseth who has actually been decent this season. The biggest concern is how disjointed RBK looked in attack on Thursday. Caretaker coach Trond Henriksen has been trying to put new signings Torgeir Børven and Dino Islamovic in the same XI but it hasn’t really worked. Both are strikers who need to be played up top, not out of position on the wing or in the #10 role.
After losing five consecutive games Sandefjord picked up a vital 1-0 victory in midweek against fellow promoted side Aalesund. It was a poor game of football in a match that contained few chances but Sandefjord won’t care. They are a limited outfit who have a small squad and with this being their 3rd game in a week it could be a physical struggle. We saw last Sunday at Brann how poor they looked at the back and were totally dismantled in the first 20 mins. One thing that seems to be going under the radar is how good Rosenborg have been defensively. Since Henriksen took charge they’ve only conceded 2 goals in 5 games and kept 3 consecutive clean sheets. I don’t have full trust in this team but they are likely to keep another clean sheet today in my opinion. The -1.25 handicap on RBK therefore looks attractive. Even if they have another poor-ish sort of day in attack they should still be able to bag a couple of goals from set pieces or something.
Recommended bet: Rosenborg -1.25 Asian Handicap @1.91
