Rosenborg finally looked like a half decent side last week as they stormed their way to a 3-0 second half win away at Stabaek. Ultimately, their better fitness levels, strong physical strength and extra quality was the difference in the end. I could see that being a theme for them in the next few weeks as well. RBK have a favourable looking fixture list with newly promoted Start and Sandefjord on their schedule soon along with struggling Viking. Caretaker coach Trond Henriksen seems to have instilled more confidence into the team and has picked up 7 points from 3 games. It doesn’t look like they are back to their best or anything yet but something tells me the tide might have turned for Rosenborg.
Godset definitely needed the 7 day rest period. They looked a bit tired and injury ravaged to me in the last few rounds, although did well to come from behind to draw vs KBK last time out. GIF have had big problems in defence where basically their whole backline has been out of action. Whether Lars Vilsvik or Jonathan Parr are available for this match I’m not sure, or what sort of condition they are in. There is no doubt that manager Henrik Pedersen will have them well set up to try and get a result here, but I’m not sure I trust them against this strong physical RBK attack, especially in the air.
Rosenborg have yet to win at home this season but I think now is the time. They are going to much more confident than they were at the start of the campaign and now with the likes of Torgeir Børven in their ranks the goalscoring potential increases. I have been impressed with how their midfield has been gradually starting to boss games in recent weeks too. Taking RBK on a -1.25 Asian Handicap is perhaps risky and I admit them winning by exactly one goal is quite possible. But RBK have looked pretty solid of late so there’s a good chance of a clean sheet, always a factor when backing handicaps. 2-0 or 3-0 is what I’m predicting so I’ll take this handicap line.
Recommended bet: Rosenborg -1.25 Asian Handicap @2.03
