Neither side is in great form. Sandefjord started the season with a good win at Odd and then a draw vs Start but have since lost three consecutive matches. This can’t be a surprise due to them having a small squad which lacks quality at this level. They will do their best to compete and have a tactically astute manager but you have to feel they are struggling during this period. The big problem that Sandefjord have is scoring goals. They fired blanks vs both Haugesund and Viking despite actually creating opportunities. They lack the quality in the final third of the field to finish properly. I trust their defence to keep things relatively tight against opposition like Sarpsborg but quite where the goals will be scored I’m not sure.
This already feels like a ‘6 pointer’ down towards the bottom of the table. Sarpsborg have lost every single game so far and it’s been a nightmare start to the season for new head coach Mikeal Stahre. His 3-4-3 system just hasn’t been working although I don’t think they have been quite as bad as their results might suggest. It feels like either individual mistakes or some unlucky moments such as missed penalties have been their main issues. Everything is pointing towards a low scoring sort of nervous match here and I did look at backing under 2.5 goals. Sometimes these sort of fixtures can surprisingly open up though where both fancy the win. I wouldn’t be backing Sarpsborg as an away favourite but they do have the better quality. Maybe a draw is most likely but this is difficult to predict.
