Start are still winless after losing in the last minute away at Haugesund in midweek. It was a harsh defeat for the newly promoted team who more than matched FKH throughout the 90 mins. Young defender Jesper Daland who has actually impressed so far this campaign was the unfortunate man who conceded an own goal. The worry for Start is that they’ve now had three consecutive defeats. A couple of those have been due to late goals against them and I’m starting to wonder whether all these games are starting to catch up with them. Injuries are starting to pile up and it looks like they will miss key midfielder Afeez Areemu again. The last time they played at home it was a desperate struggle as Odd smashed them 0-5.
Viking travel here on the back of their first win of the season, 2-0 vs Sandefjord. It wasn’t a very convincing success though. They produced a horrible first half in which hardly any chances were created. After the break a strong 15 min period effectively won them the game but they still needed goalkeeper Iven Austbø to save them a few times. Maybe the victory will help settle them down but Viking just haven’t been very impressive so far in 2020. Something hasn’t quite been right and the squad rotation policy which was so effective last season seems to have hindered them more than helping.
I think this is a tough match to predict. I don’t have that much faith in either team and anything is possible. The one big advantage Viking do have is a much bigger squad and you have to think that the extra freshness and rotation could be crucial. Start have felt like quite a tired team recently and really need a week off to rest. Based on that then perhaps an away win is more likely but I personally have no interest in betting on Viking today. In terms of goals an over or an under could go either way. I would lean towards an over due to the potential of more mistakes, but again I couldn’t say so with much confidence. This is clearly a match to watch and not bet on in my opinion.
