Strømsgodset lost their unbeaten record in midweek when they lost 0-2 away at Stabaek. This was coming really and the writing had sort of been on the wall in the last few games. I feel that SIF have been a bit below par recently, perhaps running out of ideas and looking a bit tired. They will definitely enjoy the week off after this fixture. One of the biggest issues they’ve had are the injuries at full back to Jonathan Parr and Lars Vilsvik. They could do with the experience and technical skills of both these two back on the field as soon as possible. Maybe they could return here but each status is doubtful. We need to see more from the attacking trio upfront. The likes of Salvesen, Mawa and Tokstad just haven’t been as sharp in the last couple of games.
Kristiansund travel here unbeaten and their coach Christian Michelsen continues to do an excellent job here. They needed a late penalty to rescue a 2-2 draw vs Molde in midweek but it was something that was deserved. Performance wise they pretty much went toe to toe with the champions of Norway and some of their displays this season have been excellent. The coach often likes to heavily rotate the squad so predicting the starting XI is always a challenge. Over 2.75 goals was definitely on my shortlist for this match but a couple of things put me off, mostly on the Strømsgodset side. Both games at Marienlyst this season have been tight and cagey and actually 3 of their 5 fixtures all ended under 2.5. I sense something like a 2-2 draw but couldn’t say so with any assurity.
