I don’t know what’s happened to Godset but they appear to have been in decline the last few games. We probably shouldn’t downgrade them too much for losing 0-3 at Rosenborg on Saturday night. For the most part they played a solid enough defensive game but just came unstuck in the second half by a bit of extra quality. It is now 4 games without a win for Henrik Pedersen’s side though and they would love to end that run by taking all 3 points off local rivals Mjøndalen. This is a crunch local derby for which the absence of fans (bar the token 200) will really be missed. Even despite that I would fully expect some sort of edge here between a couple of teams who hate each other. It looks like the injury situation in the Godset defence has improved with both fullbacks Jonathan Parr and Lars Vilsvik now fit to compete.
Mjøndalen head into the match on the back of a gutting 0-1 home defeat to VIF, despite only facing 10 men for over an hour. They were hard done by because the officials chalked off 2 legitimate goals and the referee didn’t allow them to impose their physical nature. I just wonder how much that match took out of their energy tank. It felt like they put a lot into the contest only to get nothing out of it. The bet I like here is UNDER 3 goals. As aforementioned, this is a tense local derby that neither team will want to lose. MIF have the joint best defensive record in the division and I just don’t see how this match opens up in terms of goals. If anyone is to win then I would stick my neck on the line and say Godset nick it 1-0. Under definitely seems like the best call here because 0-0 or 1-1 is also in play.
Recommended bet: UNDER 3 goals @1.78
