Vålerenga dug out a 1-0 away win at Mjøndalen on Sunday despite playing with 10 men for over an hour. Goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson was sent off which means backup Christian Kjetil Haug will take the gloves here. From what I saw from Haug in that match he looks able enough to hold his own and make enough saves if required. The bigger problem might be how much VIF have left in their tank. They could be running on empty because it was such a tough, bruising physical battle to keep Mjøndalen out. Both key playmaker Aaron Dönnum and defender Tolås Nation are ruled out of the game (susp & inj) ‘Enga have been inconsistent under new manager Dag Eilev Fagermo but are actually unbeaten in four games now. There’s no way they’d have ground out that tough win on Sunday with Ronny Deila still in charge.
Haugesund had their own four match unbeaten run stopped by Molde on Saturday. It wasn’t the worst of performances by FKH but they just got outdone by some extra class. Molde are too good for most in this league and it’s no disgrace to lose to them. Haugesund have generally looked more solid recently and their main issue is in attack where the likes of Kallman and Ammitzboll are nowhere near effective enough. Thankfully, key man Ibrahima Wadji will be available to play after a 14 month doping ban in the next match but they will once again do without him here. The bet I like is UNDER 2.5 goals. I just don’t think there will be many chances here. VIF will probably lack energy and Haugesund simply can’t find a way to hit the back of the net regularly. I could see a goalless draw or someone taking a tight 1-0 win either way.
Recommended bet: UNDER 2.5 goals @1.95
