Norway Eliteserien – Kristiansund v Start Preview (9/8/20)

Match Preview

Kristiansund had a ropey spell where they failed to win in 6 consecutive games but have bounced back thanks to victories against Sandejord and Viking. KBK are a strong side with lots of depth and will probably finish in the top 6 or 7 this year. The manager Christien Michelsen is a canny operator and has a knack of making the right substitutions at the right time. This happened against Sandefjord recently and the introduction of Pal Erik Ulvestad from the bench last week led to a match winning contribution. There are a few niggling injuries hanging around such as striker Flamur Kastrati who missed the Viking match last weekend. It looks like key man Amahl Pellegrino should be raring to go after a full week of rest.

Unfortunately, Start have had no such luxury of a full week of rest. They had to travel to Molde in midweek and got battered 5-0. It was a competitive first hour from the newly promoted team but it looked to me like they were very leggy towards the end of that game as Molde racked up the score. It has been non stop for Start this season and they are at quite a disadvantage heading into this match in terms of freshness and fitness. The manager made a couple of changes for the Molde match so it will be interesting to see if he rotates further here. I personally think Kristiansund will be too strong today and get the 3 points. I have bet against Start and been burned in recent times, when they surprisingly drew vs Rosenborg and Brann but KBK look like a worthy short priced favourite.

I’m going to be boring and take Kristiansund just to win on the nose at a shorter price of 1.60. Start have only been beaten by more than a goal twice this season so something like 1-0 or 2-1 wouldn’t totally surprise me.

Prediction: 2-0

Recommended bet: Kristiansund WIN or -0.5 @1.60
