Norway Eliteserien – Rosenborg v Aalesund Preview (16/8/20)

Match Preview

Rosenborg actually looked like a decent team last week as they battered Sarpsborg 5-1. For the first time in ages I was actually really impressed with RBK and it’s not like they faced any mugs, Sarpsborg beat Molde 2-1 yesterday and have generally been in good form. The attacking trio of Ceide, Torgeir Børven and Holse looked really good together and it will be interesting to see if Pal Andre Helland comes back into the team. One problem area for Rosenborg is left back where it looks like Hedenstad is going to have to fill in. RBK have sold both Birger Melling and Anders Tronstad this summer and will be in the market for a new left back when the next window reopens. The Trondheim outfit have won their last four consecutive games at home and have been racking up a few goals. Are they now a reliable outfit at the Lerkendal Stadion again? Even Dino Islamovic scored last week!

Aalesund travel here bottom of the table although did pick up some encouragement last week by drawing with Viking 2-2. The problem AFK is obvious - they simply can’t stop conceding goals. It’s hard to see how they fix this problem because week after week the opposition create an abundance of chances vs them. Too many mistakes, bad positioning or just simply the gulf in class has been a huge problem at Eliteserien level. For this match they have two suspensions, Parfait Bizoza and Shaquil Sno. Bizoza especially has been a rare shining light in the team and could be missed. For the first time this season Jordon Mutch is in the squad and could feature. Key man Niklas Castro has come to life recently and striker Fridjonsson has proved himself a capable goalscorer. I always feel that AFK carry some sort of threat.

This match basically comes down to whether you prefer to back the Rosenborg handicap or over 3.5 goals (or both). I prefer to take the overs because I think Aalesund could potentially score and contribute towards this line themselves. Lets not forget they managed a 2-2 draw away at VIF and only lost to Odd in the last minute (3-2). I expect Rosenborg to win something like 3-1 or 4-1 and the hosts should be able to cover this goal line on their own anyway. Over just feels like the slightly safer bet due to the wild nature of Aalesund matches.

Prediction: 4-1

Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals @2.01
