Rosenborg had been making progress under caretaker boss Trond Henriksen - who will be in charge until the end of the season. However, they’ve now lost consecutive away matches to Haugesund and Odd and the road problems they’ve endured in the last 18 months have once again reared their ugly head. Their form here at the Lerkendal Stadion has at least been much better with victories against Godset, Sandefjord and Viking relatively comfortable - to a certain degree. It is clear that RBK aren’t firing on all cylinders but are in a much better state compared to the beginning of the year. Injuries haven’t helped their cause and neither has the left back situation. Anders Trondsen is set to feature here this evening but will be transferring out of the club soon. Pal Andre Helland is suspended and there’s no sign of Samuel Adegbenro yet either.
Sarpsborg have turned things around after losing their first five games. Full credit to manager Mikael Stahre who has got them playing some solid football in addition to finally scoring a few goals. They absolutely battered Aalesund 4-0 last weekend although that was facing a horrible defence. Now they switch to facing the best statistical backline in the division. Rosenborg have only conceded 12 goals this season and still have plenty of quality at the back like Tore Reginiussen, Valsvik, Hovland and some strong midfielders. Sarpsborg also have a strong looking defence and I suspect this will be a tight game of football. Maybe one moment of class could see Rosenborg win 1-0 or something but a 0-0 or 1-1 draw could als be on the cards.
Under 2.5 goals is the clear pick in my opinion. Two strong defences in addition to a couple of stuttering attacks collide and I don’t expect too many fireworks.
Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals @1.90
