Norway Eliteserien – Strømsgodset v Sandefjord Preview (9/8/20)

Match Preview

Strømsgodset have been rather up and down recently but have to be encouraged from their last two performances which resulted in a 3-1 victory against Brann and an unlucky 3-2 defeat to Glimt. There is no doubt that Godset put plenty of effort into those matches and I was quite impressed with what I saw. Manager Henrik Pedersen has been forced to endure a number of injuries this season, especially in defence and that is one of the main reasons why they have conceded 23 goals, the 3rd worst record in the league. They need to get Lars Jorgen Salvesen scoring regularly again. The big technical target man hasn’t been as sharp as he’d have liked in recent games.

This is a battle between two very good coaches and Marti Cifuentes deserves a lot of credit for picking up 13 points with this Sandefjord side. They shocked everyone by beating Molde last week and it was a totally deserved victory 2-1. Sandefjord have possibly the worst squad in the entire division and have delivered results above what most would think possible. Right now, I am not going to underestimate them at all. Godset may well win this match but at odds of 1.70 I’m not interested in backing them. Sandefjord have lost their 5 consecutive away matches which is a worry for the visitors. I see something like a 1-0 or 2-1 type match which could be close.

Prediction: 1-0
