Strømsgodset have been involved in some wild matches recently. They lost a ridiculous game 3-4 at home to Sandefjord in the dying seconds but made up for it last week by defeating Haugesund 3-2 late on. If you consider they pushed Glimt in a wild 3-2 defeat and also beat Brann 3-1 nobody can deny their matches have lacked entertainment recently! The fundamental problem for Godset has been keeping clean sheets. Their only one so far was way back in round two and their defence has been far too unreliable this year. Injuries haven’t helped them, it must be said. It seems that everyone has accepted that fact and thankfully SIF have been able to lean on their attack to bail them out. Key target man striker Lars Jørgen Salvesen has found some form again recently and his tail is up.
Viking actually travel here in 14th position and it has been a poor campaign for the Stavanger side so far. In a similar way to Godset their main achilles heel has been conceding goals and they’ve only kept 3 clean sheets out of 14. Viking had a crazy match vs Stabaek in the last round drawing 3-3. They came from 0-2 down to lead but succumbed to a late equaliser. I think Viking have been playing much better recently and there appears to be more consistency in the squad. Velon Berisha has especially looked in good form and it was good to see Yan De Lanlay get a start last week. Their away record hasn’t been too bad recently with only defeats against Rosenborg and Molde in their last 5 road trips. But we can perhaps let them off there considering the opposition.
This match appears to be a clear clash between two offensive minded teams who can’t really defend. The goal line is high at the 3.25 mark but I think it has to be backed. Unless something dramatically changes then this will be a total shootout which is capable of going either way. It’s a question of who can outscore the other and take their chances. Something like a 2-2 or even another wild 3-3 draw wouldn’t surprise me.
Recommended bet: Over 3.25 goals @1.90
