Norway Eliteserien – Vålerenga v Bodø/Glimt Preview (8/8/20)

Match Preview

Bodø/Glimt have a 3 point gap at the top of the Eliteserien table following Molde’s 5-0 midweek victory. Glimt do have a game hand though so have a bit of a cushion. There have perhaps been some signs of them slightly cracking in recent times though. Stabaek came from 0-2 down to draw and then Godset very nearly managed to pick up something at Aspmyra last Sunday. For the first time in a long while an opposition team matched them in the expected goals stats and it was surprising to see Glimt concede so many chances. They haven’t been helped by a few injuries at the back recently. Centre back Brede Moe and left wing back Fredrik André Bjørkan both might not feature here which could leave them vulnerable.

Vålerenga have only lost twice all season and have been much improved under the management of Dag Eilev Fagermo. ‘Enga have been willing to dig in a lot more and graft out results which they wouldn’t have picked up with Ronny Deila in charge. They have also been found exposed though, such as when they lost at Odd and Molde 4-1. Against the top quality teams you have to wonder what they have in their tank. And the problem is they’ll be facing a high class Bodø/Glimt attack force. The other problem they are facing are defensive injury doubts and to be honest there are a number of players across the whole squad who are rated doubtful.

Bodø/Glimt have a 100% record in terms of over 2.5 goals matches this season. Their games average a staggering 4.8 goals per game and show no sign of slowing up. At some point they will have an under, the law of averages dictates that but right now backing Over 3.25 seems like a good idea to me. We have been seeing over 3.75 and 4 goal lines in Bodø/Glimt games recently so whilst we can snaffle up something lower we may as well take the opportunity. I think if VIF had a stronger defence at their disposal then Fagermo would probably try and frustrated Glimt as much as possible but he isn;t going to be able to stop the express train here. ‘Enga could easily cause problems themselves though and get on the scoresheet. I can see an away victory but I wouldn’t be totally sure if Vålerenga take their opportunities.

Prediction: 1-3

Recommended bet: Over 3.25 goals @1.84
