Just 1 win in 9 games is slightly worrying for Stabaek but they are still situated safely in midtable. A victory here would put them comfortably clear of any trouble but Stabaek remain incredibly difficult to predict. You just never know which version of them will turn up on the day. Will we see the excellent side that managed to draw 2-2 with Rosenborg or the flat performance which saw them lose 0-2 at Odd last week? Stabaek are middle of the pack with pretty much any statistic this season and their home record of 3-3-3 rather sums them up to be honest. Key man in midfield Emil Bohinen is injured and unlikely to be available until next weekend. This is a blow because he’s probably the best player in the team. In my personal opinion, Stabaek lack ‘bite’ in attack with the likes of Edardsen, Botheim and Kinoshita all too inconsistent or lightweight. I just wonder whether playing at home doesn’t really suit them either on a grass field. The squad is generally good technically and can’t always express itself fully if the surface isn’t smooth.
The visitors are battling hard against relegation and have given themselves a chance in recent weeks by picking up a couple of wins against Aalesund and Vålerenga. With Mjøndalen bang out of form and Aalesund seemingly condemned to rock bottom it looks more likely that Start are the favourites to finish in the relegation playoff position, or maybe even catch the likes of Sandefjord if they can keep winning the odd game here and there. Start have signed a couple of veteran players in the recent transfer window, Mohamed El Makrani and Christian Bolanos. The latter scored on his debut vs Kristiansund last week but it was only a late consolation goal in a 1-2 defeat. Start have a horrible 0-2-6 away record and are one of the few teams yet to win on the road this season. I have quite liked what I’ve seen from them in recent weeks though, and although there’s a general feeling of disjointment within the squad I sense this is a team capable of winning matches sometimes. Midfielder Eirik Schulze is a massive suspension for them in this fixture though. He’s weighed in with 5 goals and 2 assists this season and been their best player.
Conclusion & Betting Analysis
In my opinion this is the most likely under 2.5 match of the round. Neither team are the most prolific of scorers and I just don’t see this game developing into any sort of shootout. The Start gameplan is likely to be quite negative and just try and defend strongly. I’m sure if you offered the visitors a draw before a ball is kicked they would probably accept it. Stabaek would ideally like to win but a point wouldn’t be that bad either. They are priced at 2.05 to win and are certainly the most likely to pick up the 3 points. It’s been a while since they faced anyone really poor at home so this is probably their easiest fixture at the Nadderud Stadion in quite some time. I just can't trust Stabaek though until they start to become more consistent. If I had to stick my neck out I’d say a 1-0 or 2-0 home win but honestly a 0-0 or 1-1 draw wouldn’t shock me. It’s a clear no bet match in my opinion. I would take under 2.5 with a gun to my head but the Eliteseiren is a hotbed for goals right now and it probably isn’t sensible to be taking unders in any fixture at the moment.
