France Ligue 2 – Nancy v Dunkerque Preview (17/10/20)

Match Preview

Nancy

There is an air of inconsistency about Nancy this season and you never really know which version of them will show up. For the most part they’ve been largely unimpressive and actually lost 3 of their 6 matches. It was nearly a fourth defeat away at Pau last time out but they managed to rescue a 1-1 draw, despite being down to ten men for the whole second half. Midfielder Ogou Akichi is suspended today as a result. New signing upfront Mickael Biron has been a useful addition but Nancy have only managed to score 5 goals in their 6 games so far. All of Nancy’s losses have been by a 0-1 scoreline and they have struggled to get into those games offensively. I really find them difficult to work out at the moment. Nobody of significance is ruled out injured, apart from long term casualties. They should welcome back #1 keeper Baptiste Valette to the starting lineup today after injury.

Dunkerque

The newly promoted team have done really well so far this season and already have 10 points on the board. They’ve had to endure some difficulties, such as the large number of COVID cases at the club and that probably contributed towards the two losses they suffered to Rodez and Ajaccio. It was surprisingly how they bounced back before the international break by beating Guingamp 1-0, their third success by such a scoreline. Stiker Malik Tchokounte is ruled out until November with injury. USLD have a fairly good defence and have only conceded 5 goals thus far. They look pretty solid at the back and can be hard to break down.

Conclusion & Betting analysis

The odds look about right for this game. Nancy are a -0.25 favourite but I can’t trust them until they manage to string some consistency together. Over the past 16-18 months Nancy have a knack of drawing games and I could see a 0-0 or 1-1 being the most likely outcome again. It feels like the sort of game which could be decided by a set piece or something along those lines. I looked at under 2.25 goals but the price isn’t really very good so overall I think this match is best avoided. I have no real strong feelings either way and no result would surprise me too much.
