Rene Girard’s men bounced back in style in their most recent match by beating Le Havre 3-0. It was a convincing victory for Paris FC and they are one of the best teams in the league this season in my opinion. Midfielder Moustapha Name is suspended today but the second straight game but the rest of the squad is pretty healthy, apart from longer term injuries. Girard has a lot of strong options all over the field and they have especially looked dangerous in attack, scoring 11 goals in 6 matches. A crowd restriction of just 1,000 is allowed for this game but it’s not really a factor because Paris FC have never been the best of supported teams anyway.
The visitors are the only remaining winless team in the league. They have three points on the board but have looked perhaps the worst team in Ligue 2. This shouldn't be too much a surprise. On paper they have one of the poorest squads and with Didier Tholot in charge a manager who has a history of failure at this level. Right back Damon Bansais is suspended and centre back Younn Zahary has tested positive for COVID-19. Pau recently signed Cheikh Sabaly on loan from Metz and he did very well for them in the National Division last season. Something needed to be done to improve an attack which has only scored 2 goals in 6 matches so far.
Conclusion & Betting analysis
This should end up as a home win. The gulf in class is likely too much between a promotion contender and a side that will probably go down this year. Paris FC are loaded all over the field and look like quite a complete unit to me. Pau have shown nothing so far this season to suggest it's going to be anything other than a massive struggle to survive. They couldn’t even beat a Nancy side who had ten men for the entire second half in their most recent game. Backing the hosts close to the even money mark looks a big price and I expected something closer to the 1.60 mark to be honest. I see this being a comfortable success for Paris FC something like 2-0 or 3-0.
