Les Lionceaux remain unbeaten after five games and just like last season they have come out of the traps well. Omar Daf’s men have drawn their last three contests and have twice come from behind to earn points vs Rodez at home (2-2) and Ajaccio away (1-1). Daf is a good coach who knows how to get results, even if it isn’t always pretty. No new injuries for the home side ahead of this encounter.
Despite playing nearly the entire match with ten men, Chambly came from behind to beat Chateauroux last week 2-1. Goalkeeper Simon Pontdeme was sent off very early on and as a result will be suspended today. Chambly were quite lucky last week in that a couple of freakish deflections got them goals but they are the sort of side who will dig in and be hard to beat. They set out their stall really well vs Caen in their last away game and managed to graft out a 0-0 draw. That is the sort of blueprint they will use today as well.
Conclusion & Betting analysis
The goal line is set at just 1.75 for this game and it’s no real surprise. Neither team is usually the most free-scoring of sides and this is all set up to be a tight and cagey encounter. Chambly will just park the bus and defend, they will happily accept a draw here. Even if a goal is scored early it’s hard to see the game opening up too much between two disciplined teams. Sochaux are definitely the better of the two teams but Chambly are an absolute pain in the arse to break through sometimes so I wouldn’t be backing them at a price of around evens.
