Norway Eliteserien – Brann v Molde Preview (4/10/20)

Match Preview

I thought that Brann were surprisingly decent away to Kristiansund last week and fully deserved their 1-1 draw. There hadn’t been much sign of that coming because in recent weeks they’ve looked poor, with their horror first half at Vålerenga being a particular lowlight. Kåre Ingebrigtsen hasn’t had the greatest start to life in Bergen but it's clear they are planning for next season already. Brann should finish in some sort of safe midtable or lower midtable spot. Right now, it feels like they are quite unpredictable and wildly volatile. I think their mentality is quite attacking at the moment but too many chances are getting missed. Daouada Bamba has been especially wasteful this season. Brann have the 3rd worst home record in the league and have only won 2 matches at their own stadium this season, which is pretty shocking.

MFK are in poor form having lost 5 of their last 6 Eliteserien games and 7 of their last 10! Things haven’t been right here this summer although the distraction of European Qualifying has clearly taken its hit. Molde suffered a body blow in midweek then they failed to make the Champions League, getting knocked out by virtue of away goals vs Hungarian side Ferencvaros. They have the consolation of making the Europa League group stage but this group of players now needs to pick itself up off the canvas and deliver a performance again. The Molde squad is in better condition with only long term absences like right back Kristoffer Haraldseid ruled out with injury. Most of their issues have been on the road where Erling Moe’s men have lost 5 consecutive games.

Conclusion & Betting analysis

I have a feeling that Molde will finally turn up and play properly here. They have had a bad slump but still well in contention for a medal position and on paper this is still probably the best squad in the league. There’s no real excuses now but I couldn’t trust them as a -0.25 away favourite based on recent results. The pick I like here is over 3 goals. Brann just seem in an attacking sort of mood recently and there’s no reason for them to not have a proper go in this game. I see something like a 1-3 or a 2-2 draw. I will be cautious and take the over 3 line at a lower price rather than 3.25.

Prediction: 1-3

Recommended bet: Over 3 goals @ 1.75
