KBK continue to do remarkably well this season and are in 6th position. I’ve said it many times that head coach Christien Michelsen deserves a ton of praise for how he’s managed this team in recent years. Kristiansund have dropped some points at home recently during the 3-5 loss to Viking and then being held 1-1 by Brann. They are quite attack natured and especially lethal on the break. There are definitely question marks defensively and it’s rare you’ll see KBK keep a clean sheet but usually their strike force, spearheaded by Amahl Pellegrino can bail out the defence. Having first choice keeper Sean McDermott back from injury the last two games has helped them. Upfront, Flamur Kastrati is suspended for this match but he hasn’t always been a guaranteed starter or been in particularly good form recently anyway.
RBK are unbeaten in 8 games and heading into the round sat in 2nd place. They haven’t always been at their best recently but results have been decent for sure. Rosenborg reinforced their squad during the most recent transfer window and now appear to have possibly the best looking midfield in the league. They have the likes of Marcus Henriksen, Per Ciljan Skjelbred, Anders Konradsen and Kristoffer Zachariassen to lean on in these positions and Edvard Tagseth is an exciting young option as well. Big man upfront Dino Islamovic has been scoring goals and they have an abundance of wingers in the team. Defensively, RBK can be ‘got at’ and it’s been a while since they last kept a clean sheet. Old dog Tore Reginiussen is doubtful with injury here, as is new left back Pa Konate. Rosenborg have improved their away record recently but I think they’ve shown plenty of vulnerability on their travels in recent years.
Conclusion & Betting analysis
Since obtaining promotion in 2017 Kristiansund have always pushed RBK close and given a good account of themselves. In seven attempts they’ve yet to actually beat them but it wouldn’t surprise me if that changed here. Rosenborg will likely dominate the ball which is exactly how KBK like it. They can be lethal on the break and although I’m sure RBK will have some sort of plan to keep Amahl Pellegrino quiet I think he’s so good it's impossible for him to be shut down by anyone in this league. For me, the obvious pick is over 3 goals around the 1.80 mark. Both sides have impressed going forwards of late but less convincing defensively. I could see Kristiansund taking something from this game so I strongly considered them +0.25. However, I expect quite an end to end type affair and they can sometimes get exposed like they did vs Viking. Something like a 2-2 draw or a 3-2 victory either way is my prediction.
Recommended bet: Over 3 goals @1.80
