Norway Eliteserien – Start v Haugesund Preview (4/10/20)

Match Preview

It has been a poor season for the newly promoted club but thanks to the inadequacies of both Aalesund and Mjøndalen then the relegation playoff spot is still very much open as a chance of survival. Start have lost 6 of their last 9 matches but won the other 3 and a repeat of that to end the season would probably see them finish in 14th spot. This is a team that generally hasn’t been too bad, even in defeat. If we excuse the batterings at Glimt and Molde then results and performances haven’t been too bad. First choice keeper Jonas Deumeland is ruled out injured and right back Amund Wichne is suspended today.

FKH were involved in a wild encounter last week when they came from 1-4 down to draw 4-4 with Odd! They did so with just 3 mins left on the clock which was absolutely ridiculous. Haugesund have had a poor sort of campaign and are only situated in 12th position. The defence has been too unreliable this season and overall they’ve conceded too many goals. Key centre back Benjamin Hansen is suspended today along with midfielder Bruno Leite.

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Absolutely anything could happen here and it’s probably the hardest match of the day to predict. I have a feeling Start might get a result and when I say that I include the draw. A victory for the home side would actually bring them to within 4 points of Haugesund so there is some pressure on the visitors not to suffer defeat. With both teams missing some key defensive absentees then there’s more chance of an over 2.5 landing but the natural instinct of both sides might see them get sucked into a cagey affair. This is so hard to predict and honestly nothing would surprise me.
