Match Preview

Le Havre

  • Inconsistent team who rely more on defence than attack
  • Just 9 goals scored in 10 games has been an achilles heel
  • Return of key striker Jamal Thiare is a major boost ahead of this game
  • Two attackers, Quentin Cornette & Goodwin Bentil tested positive for COVID and will miss out

Caen

  • Lack of goals also a problem for Caen with only 9 scored in 10 matches
  • Lost their last 3 away games and struggled on the road
  • Key centre back Anthony Weber suspended along with CM Alexis Beka Beka
  • #1 GK Remy Riou returns from injury and speedster in attack Caleb Zady is now fit

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Big Normandie derby between two traditional and fierce rivals. This is one of those fixtures in which we will badly miss the crowds and it will be interesting and weird to see how things play out. I suspect this might be a tight sort of game because the main strength of both outfits is with organisation and defence. I rate Caen as the better team overall and are probably the more likely to win. I think the bookmakers have this match about right with both sides roughly on a DNB handicap. The over/under line set between 1.75 and 2 feels quite accurate as well. I could see this being a draw either 0-0 or 1-1.
