France Ligue 2 – Valenciennes v Rodez Preview (21/11/20)

Match Preview

  • A wild victory 5-4 away at Toulouse last time out was their first in five matches
  • Usually quite reliable defensively and the Toulouse match a freak exception for goals
  • Decent home record and won 3 out of 5 at Le Stade de Hainault
  • Key wing back Laurent Dos Santos still injured, but he is the only major absentee

  • Lost 4 of their last 5 games and have the worst away record in the league
  • Key striker Ugo Bonnet is ruled out injured along with CM Aurelien Tertereau
  • Defensive duo Yohan Roche & Joris Chougrani both suspended
  • 2nd worst defensive record in Ligue 2

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Valenciennes are usually an under 2.5 machine so it was a big shock to see them involved in a wild 5-4 victory at Toulouse last time out. Defender Joffrey Cuffaut scored an incredible four goals as his set play ability was crucial. I expect things to revert back to the norm and VAFC put in a more solid display here. This looks to be a good time to be facing a Rodez side without their best striker and missing other players to injury and suspension. RAF are out of form right now and don’t look great. Valenciennes won this fixture 1-0 last season and I could see something similar again. Backing the home side on a -0.25 handicap around 1.90 looks like a good price to me.

Prediction: 1-0

Recommended bet: Valenciennes -0.25 Asian Handicap @1.91
