Norway Eliteserien – Stabaek v Molde Preview (21/11/20)

Match Preview

  • Three consecutive draws and just 2 losses in 8 games sees them comfortably midtable
  • Defence improved recently conceding just twice in four games. Addition of Gustav Valsvik has been key
  • Centre back Yaw Amankwah, who missed the last game is still doubtful due to injury
  • Always a difficult side to predict. 7 wins and 7 losses in addition to 10 draws this season

  • Domestic form has improved with 4 wins in their last 5 games, scoring 13 goals in the process
  • In second place but have teams breathing down their neck for the silver medal spot
  • Away record has been an achilles heel at times, already losing 5 times on the road
  • Key players Stian Gregersen, Eirik Hestad both doubtful due to injury and striker Ohi Omoijuanfo could miss out due to a quarantine

Conclusion & Betting analysis

The last nine H2H meetings have all ended with at least 3 goals in them and this always tends to be a high scoring fixture. Over 2.75 or over 3 would be the most attractive selection should I be betting here but Stabaek have looked more solid of late which kind of puts me off. The other factor to consider is that this grass pitch at the Nadderud Stadion has produced the least amount of over 2.5 matches this season with only 4 out of 12 and I suspect it won’t play that great this time of year. I suspect Molde may well find a way to win this encounter but it likely won’t be that easy and Stabaek are the sort of side who can cause problems to anyone on their day. The visitors are priced odds-on around the 1.90 mark which is probably too skinny to be backing.

Prediction: 1-2
