France Ligue 2 – Chambly v Guingamp Preview (18/12/20)

Match Preview

Chambly

  • Bottom of the table but only lost 1 of their last 6 games
  • Just 2 victories all season is why they are in the relegation zone
  • Lost 5 out of 8 home fixtures
  • Striker Medhy Geuzoui is injured
  • No other major casualties or suspensions

Guingamp

  • Now winless in 8 matches, although drawn 6 of those games
  • 14th position is a really poor spot for a squad of their quality
  • Just 1 win in 7 road matches this season
  • Three regular starting defenders ruled out - Sampaio, Mellot (inj) & Niakate (susp)
  • Striker Frantzdy Pierrot in the squad for the first time this season after ACL surgery

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Guingamp are -0.25 away favourites but I don’t think you could trust them based on recent form. They seem to continually fall behind in matches, and although at least the Brittany outfit have at least managed to come back and salvage draws, they can’t seem to get a win out of anywhere. Chambly are a limited side who have been fighting hard for everything recently. They can be an annoying team to shake off and they will dig their heels trying to graft something. If Guingamp show their quality and find some form then they should be able to win this game. But I worry about a defence which is depleted and an attack which still is still misfiring under Mecha Bazdarevic. Part of me fancies over 2.25 goals here but there’s always a risk with Chambly that they just park the bus against a perceived bigger opponent. I think Guingamp are too good to go without a victory for much longer so I’ll predict them to win, but I don’t say this with much confidence.
