France Ligue 2 – Toulouse v Paris FC Preview (5/1/21)

Match Preview

  • Only 1 defeat in last 15 games has seen TFC rise up to 3rd in the league
  • Joint highest scoring team in Ligue 2 with 34 goals
  • 4-3-2 home record is only the 8th best
  • Key defender & captain Ruben Gabrielsen is injured

Paris FC

  • Late victory against Guingamp last time out halted a streak of 6 games without a win
  • Back up to 5th in the table and remain a promotion contender
  • 3rd best away record in the league but have lost their last two on the road - to fellow rivals Troyes & Clermont

Conclusion & Betting analysis

This should be a good battle between two strong teams. I was tempted to back over 2.5 goals because Toulouse fixtures have been rather wild of late. Paris FC are no strangers to a high scoring affair recently either. However, we are looking at an odds-on price which probably isn’t sensible in a Ligue 2 fixture in the middle of winter. In terms of a winner it really is a case of who takes their chances better and you’d probably have to give the edge to Toulouse in that department. They have form guys like Rhys Healey who look really confident. Paris FC are no mugs though and could threaten on the break. I see something like a 2-1 home win or even a 2-2 draw.

Prediction: 2-1
