France Ligue 2 – Guingamp v Caen Preview (20/2/20)

Match Preview

  • Just 1 win in last 18 games is the reason Guingamp are hovering just above relegation trouble
  • Interim coach Fred Bompard remains in charge - he’s drawn his last 2 games
  • CB Philippe Sampaio ruled out
  • El Hadji Ba (DM) & Morgan Poaty (RB) also injured
  • 2-6-4 home record is the 2nd worst in the league

  • Victory against Niort at home last week (1-0) was their first in 9 games
  • 3-3-6 away record hasn’t been very good this season
  • #1 keeper Remy Riou remains out injured
  • Defensive duo Armougom & Rivierez also injured along with striker Bammou

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Caen have won both meetings this season, 1-0 in the league and 3-1 in the cup. Guingamp have been a total mess all campaign really. They looked better against Auxerre and Grenoble recently and maybe their attacking quality on paper will finally shine through. Interim manager Fred Bompard appears to be getting more out of the players than the previous coach - although that was always going to happen by default. Caen are one of those weird sides who I can never predict very easily. Any version of them could show up on the day, so it’s a challenge to get them right. Absolutely nothing tempts me either in the Asian market or over/under. I am very happy to leave this match alone and my best guess is for something like a 1-1 draw.

Prediction: 1-1
