France Ligue 2 – Paris FC v Chateauroux Preview (20/2/20)

Match Preview

Paris FC

  • Just 2 wins in last 15 games has seen Paris FC slip down to 6th place and out of the playoffs
  • 6-4-2 home record remains strong and have been difficult to beat here
  • Haven’t kept a clean sheet since the start of December
  • Two suspensions - Bamba (CB) & Kikonda (CM)

Chateauroux

  • Defeat to Le Havre last week (0-1) means they are rooted to the bottom of the table
  • Have improved performance-wise on the field recently, helped by January new signings
  • Goalkeeper problems with FOUR custodians ruled out
  • Looks like #5 keeper Tommy Plumain will start here
  • Terrible 1-4-7 away record which is the worst in the league

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Chateauroux have definitely been better of late and been far more competitive anyway. Results might not show it but they certainly aren’t the pushover they once were. They’ve had GK issues all season and new signing Marcin Bulka on loan from PSG misses out due to injury. Other absences will mean that number 5 choice Tommy Plumain guards the net tonight. Plumain has actually been on the bench a few times this season and isn’t terrible but I have to think this issue will affect them at some stage tonight, even if just with communication. Paris FC have somehow cocked up a lot of matches they should have won recently. The problem is their defence can’t be trusted to keep things tight and their strikers miss too many big chances. Backing Paris FC -0.5 around evens is mightily tempting but I prefer to take over 2.25 goals. I see both teams scoring and Chateauroux are in a desperate sort of position where they need to go for things really. 2-1 or 3-1 home victory for me.

Prediction: 3-1

Recommended bet: Over 2.25 goals @ 1.86
