Norway Eliteserien – Mjøndalen v Vålerenga Preview (24/5/21)

Match Preview

  • Excellent 3-0 away victory at Sandefjord last week must surely fill them with confidence
  • One of the favourites for relegation this season
  • 6-0-9 home record last season - all or nothing with no draws
  • Experienced veteran Christian Gauseth is injured

  • Disappointing 1-2 home defeat to Kristiansund last week is a real setback
  • Only won 5 out of 15 away games last season
  • Did beat Brann 3-0 in their only road match this campaign
  • Squad condition remains excellent with only Odin Thiago Holm injured

Conclusion & Betting analysis

Would you fancy betting on Vålerenga at a price of around1.80? That is the real question mark because this is a definite banana skin type fixture if they don’t play very well. Last week against Kristiansund VIF didn’t take their chances and then struggled to break down a resolute defence. A similar sort of thing could definitely happen here and Mjøndalen will try to shithouse themselves to some points in an ugly way. They can be effective from set pieces so ‘Enga will have to watch out. The visitors of course possess a lot more quality and some individual moments could easily turn the game in their favour too. I could see something like 0-1 or 0-2 here but there is the potential for this to be a difficult game so I’ll leave it alone.
